2019 Employment Insurance Premium Rate Change
With Canadian unemployment near a 40-year low, the Minister of Finance just announced the lowest EI premium rate since 1980. In 2019, the employee EI premium will be $1.62 per $100 of insurable earnings, which is a decrease of 4 cents from the current rate. For the majority of Canadian workers, this will be the lowest rate they have paid since entering the workforce.
