Gisèle joined LaBarge Weinstein’s Technology & Intellectual Property  Group in Ottawa in 2009. Gisèle’s practice is focused on technology contracting including licensing, distribution, outsourcing, privacy and e-commerce. She is a registered trade-mark agent in Canada and read law at Queens’ College, University of Cambridge. Prior to joining LW, Gisele took the barrister’s vocational training in London affiliated with the Middle Temple and  then obtained a training contract with and  qualified as a  solicitor into the  Technology, Media and Telecoms department of Lovells LLP (now Hogan Lovells) in London, England. At Lovells she advised on a wide variety of information technology, intellectual property, media, telecoms and data protection law matters. During her time at Lovells she also had the opportunity to work in-house on secondment to two leading media and telecoms companies where she provided regulatory and joint venture support.

Gisèle draws on substantial experience in drafting, advising and negotiating complex commercial deals with a focus on practical guidance and risk analysis. She provides guidance  to companies on commercialization as well as day-to-day compliance in data protection, advice on intellectual property matters and dispute resolution prior to formal legal actions being commenced as well as  support for the IP, IT and privacy aspects of mergers and acquisitions for the firm’s clients.
