Another Successful LW Connect Event
Last Thursday evening, the LaBarge Weinstein team, along with The Ottawa Network, hosted the second LW Connect event of 2012. These sessions are targeted at local tech and knowledge-based businesses who want to learn about funding opportunities, while mingling with other startups and service providers.
Ron Warburton, Managing Partner of the Business Development Bank of Canada’s Venture Capital division, did a brief presentation where he shared that BDC is now actively providing both seed and Series A financing to start-ups across the country. Investing primarily in Energy, Health, Information Technology, and Communications companies, the VC group is comprised of four funds:
- Diversified Portfolio
- Energy/Cleantech
- Healthcare
- Information Technology
With around 50 people in attendance, the boardroom was a little crowded but a lot of great connections were made and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves!
